If you're a friend or relative of our family, chances are you're already the proud owner of something handmade by Mom...my mom, that is!
The woman who encouraged my own make-and-do ways is herself a fine maker of things.
These days she is mostly into rug hooking, and I thought I'd use this spot on my website to show you what she's up to (and give you the chance to have your very own mom-made piece!!)Please get in touch for info on the pricing of anything you see here.
Rugs are made by pulling loops of %100 wool through a burlap(or other) backing with a hand-held hook. Mom cuts her own strips from old clothes, and sometimes dyes them to get the right colour. Patterns are sometimes heritage, sometimes original. Heritage Patterns, such as the Scottie dog, are the same ones our great grand-parents would have used. Hooked rugs are heirloom pieces-you can put them on the floor, walk on them, and you will still have them to pass on to the next generation!
