you had me at "Recess".

Tomorrow (Friday 29th) I am taking part in my neighborhood elementary school's "Festival of Arts and Culture".
When the vice principal invited me to come in and discuss my work with the children, he explained what to prepare for: two half-hour presentations, followed by a break for recess, followed by another presentation.
Recess?
I get to have recess again?
My eyes twinkled at the mere mention, my heart sped up a bit, and I immediately packed my granola bar (after accepting the invitation, of course!)
Considering the audience demographic (ages10-12), I'm aiming for "fun and fast-paced"--I'll let you know how it goes!
At the end of the presentation, I'll be giving away buttons (pictured above). The very awesome (and local) duo of Robin and James from MIXED NUTS made these using my design: comic book pages I ran through my printer with an Oscar-the-Grouch-ism! I 'heart' trash! Me too, Oscar!
The buttons turned out so nicely that I will be ordering more and other styles too, to have for sale in the shop--stay tuned!
You can't conceive
of the pleasure in my smile.
You hold my hand,
rough up my hair,
It's lots of fun
to have you there."

Going once, going twice...

(sterling silver, driftwood, freshwater pearl, beachstone, mussel shell, beachglass.)
Two of my most recent necklaces, as pictured above, are up for auction tonight at the CAPE BRETON CENTRE FOR CRAFT AND DESIGN.
If I were to sell these in the shop, the one on the left would be priced at $50, and the one at right would be $125 (extremely rare heart shaped beachglass).
Subtle yet highly evocative of coastal living, both are one-of-a-kind, waiting to be snatched up by just the right type of mermaid!
