FRIDAY NIGHT!
Posted on Monday, March 16th, 2009

(photos are detail shots from some of my/our newest paintings)
2 years ago Teena Marie Fancey and I were busy preparing an application to have our found object artwork shown by the art gallery at Cape Breton University.
Fast forward to now and--it's ON!!
(edit: my shop in bras d'or will close early on friday the 2oth--we will be open only from 12-3, instead of 12-6 that day)
Opening night for "REDUX" is Friday, March 20th...from 7-9pm, Teena and I will be on hand at CBU'S gallery 1, welcoming anyone who is interested in seeing what we've done with "garbage" and a bit of paint...come on out--I think you'll like it!
We set out to create a show that would be fun even for people who don't like "art shows". Stepping in to the gallery, you will see vibrant, saturated COLORS, with unusual surprises such as
CAR PARTS; ROPE; PENNIES; FIREWORKS; COMPUTER PARTS; FILM NEGATIVES; ZIPPERS; GRANNY SQUARES; VINTAGE WALLPAPER; RUSTY METAL; OLD SPOONS; DECONSTRUCTED TEXTBOOKS; SHOE SOLES; (along with various odds and ends, bits and bobs-- whatever we could scavenge!)
It's all about fun, so dress code for the event is wide open--you could finally wear that bedazzled velvet smoking jacket, or your vintage 1976 track suit--either would be smashing, dahling...let's all get together and talk trash.
(p.s: don't freak out if you can't make the opening night..."REDUX" will continue to run at CBU'S gallery for another month--you have till April 24th!)
"The time has come, the walrus said,
to talk of many things,
of shoes and ships and sealing wax,
of cabbages and kings.
of why the sea is boiling hot,
and whether pigs have wings."
-Lewis Carroll
