catch-a-fire

my latest painting: "catch-a-fire"...it looks blurry here, but it's not in real life. I didn't set out to paint a fiery scene, my intention was ballerinas, oddly enough?! Anyhow, this is one of those ones that painted itself. Here's what one critic had to say: "well, there's no mistaking who the artist is"
me:"what do you mean?"
critic:"you do perfectly good paintings and then stick junk on top of them."
I love you, Mom.
What else is new? The biggest leap Lamoore Designs has taken since its inception: in a week I'll be in a wholesale tradeshow, my first ever, called "ACTS". Click here to read all about it.
Look for changes to the "shop" page of the site around Mid-February when I update it with any resulting new retailers of Finders Keepers. I'm going to this show like a girl guide on a cookie-mission: I have a goal, wish me luck!
Our Centre for Craft and Design is taking some of the financial risk of attending away by offering partial government funding...thank you Centre, and thank you government! Places like the Centreare working hard to push the economic benefits of a strong art/craft/culture sector...I believe in their vision, and feel pretty blessed to live in a region that just may be on the cusp of a sort of Renaissance *fingers crossed*.
Loved and lost.

Until now, this journal has been reserved strictly for all matters "business"-purposefully devoid of "too-personal" details.
I'm breaking my rules this once to share sad news:
On Dec. 20th, we had to have our dog, George euthanized (lung problem). I am coping by distracting myself with work, and by avoiding all the "triggers" that make me think about the loss. Because of this avoidance-strategy,i'm starting to have awkward moments where I can't seem to engage in the proper small talk/make nice with people and instead i just start crying. I would imagine this probably freaks people out, so I'm giving everyone reading this the heads up...if you see me, it's probably best to just talk about the weather, or tell me a funny story/joke...i like those. :)
I always try to finish these posts with a song lyric, today it's a link to a whole song...one I used to sing to George: http://www.internoodle.com/Kermit/Inspiration/KermitSongs.asp?Song=17
you can also click a link to the audio, if you like.
That's it, I now return you to your regularly scheduled web-surfing...tune in next time when the journal shall return to normal (even if I'm not!) *wink*
