there must be 50 ways to...
Posted on Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

...get ripped off at the dollar store.
is anyone else noticing the myriad ways flawed merchandise tricks us, waiting until we get it home to reveal its true self? ....scotch tape that doesn't stick, batteries that don't work, hole punches that bite into your paper and then don't let go, sets of printed things packaged so you can't tell the bottom ones are blank, etc. and just when you think you're smarter than all that, you get another lesson in the school of you-get-what-you-pay-for.
today i was very happy to find coil-bound, blank page, hard cover journals for just a dollar. I do a lot of doodling and writing in bed before i go to sleep, so you can see why such a find might make me slightly giddy. I chose the best one (some were warped) and felt quite pleased...until i got home, unwrapped it, and immediately detected a faint musty smell. didn't see that one coming. that disappointment was, however, somewhat offset by this odd little device I also purchased for, you guessed it, just a dollar!

a hard plastic cube, containing a hollow sphere, containing two very wee dice! brilliant!

in other news: My new products are now starting to appear on the website...there are new bracelets and pins in the Forbidden Closet collection, and there are new earrings in the Enchanted Trail collection....thanks to Gayle Bird, all links are now working properly, and I finally can do it myself! YIPPEE!

it's gonna take time,
if you wanna find,
the perfect kind of love that you dream about.
it's out there on the street,
but everyone you meet,
don't always tell the truth so you better watch out.

Trial and Error

After an entire day of loading pics, entering code and other tediosities, the website now has two new (broken) categories in the Enchanted Trail and Forbidden Closet collections. Progress? I have contacted the web expert, and hopefully will soon know what I botched....so hang tight! Once I mend those, I have plenty more to add, many of which have never been offered to the public! Fun!

Know what else is fun? The vintage super-sized octagon sunglasses I scored this week from local Valu Village. Can't wait to hit the beach with these puppies:

Now and then, I come across something on the web that I wish I'd thought of. For a prime example, click here to check out the lovely lamps made using cocktail umbrellas (my favorite is the martini style).

Mid-February is always the time of year when I start yearning for spring/summer and making resolutions for how to get the most out of it once it comes. So far, I have vowed to pick more strawberries, wear more skirts, watch more clouds, find some people to jump double dutch with, have weekly picnics (even if it's just in the backyard), celebrate the arrival of peepers, fireflies, lunar moths, (but NOT the junebugs, yech). What does February cause you to yearn for? (assuming your corner of the world also has seasons...otherwise, February would just be another sunny dream, wouldn't it?)

Here's a pic I snapped last summer at our local U-Pick:

we'll laugh every day..."
