Cape Breton (my home) is hosting the ECMAs this weekend, so for an entire weekend (starting today) there will be music oozing out of every corner.
Music is a huge part of my life as an artist: songs inspire new ideas, I listen while I create, and the musicians themselves serve as important symbols of folks choosing the road less travelled.
Here at my house, the David plays bass guitar in a local band, and has been giving me his old guitar strings for years...my shoebox is overflowing, it's sproinging all over the place!
It was the perfect time, to start re-mixing the strings into something functional. The above pendant and earrings, along with others, are available at the Cape Breton Center for Craft and Design in Sydney. If you're stopping by my shop today, you'll probably see me frantically trying to make more...and if you have used guitar strings, well, bring them along!
